Progressio, second studio album

Progressio is our second studio album and a project of our own production, but the first with a new Vocalist. The title of the album itself says that the album is, in a way, our musical progress. There is also a song with the lyrics and melody line of the previous vocalist Gabrysia – which is not the end of something old, but also the beginning of the foundation for something new.

The album was created in 2019-2025. It has a art-rock character, but you will also find characteristic blues solos played by Jurek and melodic pieces by Adam, symphonic parts and rock ballads. Bartek’s keyboards give the right atmosphere to each song, while Czarek and Barry’s bass and drums lead the rhythm throughout the entire album, sometimes surprising the listener with a sudden change in time signature.

What makes this album different from the previous one?

Definitely the number of vocal parts. In addition to the main strong vocals of Szczepan, there were emotional vocals and backing vocals of Karina. Karina’s supporting vocalists were: Karolina van der Biezen and Dagmara Samulska, and the speaker on the song On the edge of time / Stop the terror was Rob Thompson.

The PROGRESSIO album deals with world problems, such as depression (Little Butterfly), war (On the edge of time), politics (Pajęczyna zła), but also about interpersonal relationships (Nadciąga burza, All Ty, Impresja), there is even room for an autobiographical piece (Born in ’69).

How the album was created

As with the previous album, once again we did not choose the easy path, we did everything ourselves except the album cover. Because as is the case with most niche and local teams, there were financial and equipment limitations.

We like to make good quality music and everything related to it should not differ from the level we represent, in any case, with the possibilities at our disposal, we try to make the best possible product. Hence everything takes longer. The instruments were recorded one by one. Of course, a “remote control” for drums and bass was created earlier. Then, guitarists, vocals and keyboards added to the drums and bass. It all took time, but the end result is worth listening to.

The idea for this name and album cover came from the word “progress”. There were several concepts for the name, but Jurek’s idea turned out to be the most accurate and practical – in terms of the meaning of the word itself and its translation. Progressio is the Latin equivalent of the word przedprogresu, but in other languages ​​its form does not differ far from this Latin name.

Thinking about progress, especially in the context of music or a project, often conjures up images of growth, starting with something small and growing into something bigger. It was from this information that Ewa Jedlińska began to develop her vision of the cover for our album. We were surprised by the quality of Ewa’s work and creativity, as well as the accuracy of her idea. It was from Eve that the lotus flower came from. It seemed like the perfect visual metaphor. Lotuses grow into beautiful flowers from murky water. It’s like a development journey or building a road, but much nicer! So, the visual core is a lotus, but instead of initially growing out of water, its roots are tangled or growing directly from something musical – maybe an old radio or an old instrument, like a tangled mess of cables or strings turning into roots. This represents the music itself, the foundation or starting point from which everything grows. The roots and stems winding around or emerging from this musical source symbolize beginning stages, hard work, growth. As the lotus stems climb upwards, breaking free, they begin to bloom. This part, the growth and ultimate full flowering, is “progress” – the achievement of a higher state, a developed form, a peak. Since lotuses are aquatic plants, having a water motif in the background made sense. This provides a natural environment for the flower. Then, to visually reinforce the idea of ​​growth and intensity (like building towards a musical climax or achieving a goal), the background colors become more vibrant and intense the higher the lotus flowers reach into the lid. It’s as if the energy or achievement is building visually. Finally, imagining light shining from above adds a sense of brightness, illuminating progress or perhaps representing inspiration or success illuminating the scene. It’s about that journey from roots to flourishing.

Our latest music video for the lyrical track “Impresja” has an interesting rock sound with four different guitar solos and a lot of vocals and backing vocals. The song is “dedicated to women“.
